The importance of prayers lies in the fact that regardless of what you do in life, the most important aspect is your relationship with Allah, i.e. faith (Imaan), the conscience of God (taqwa), sincerity (ikhlas) and worship of Allah ( Ibadah). This relationship with Allah is demonstrated and put into practice and improved through prayer.

Quran has emphasized so many times on the importance of Prayer. Our beloved Prophet (PBUH) said: “Know that among your duties, prayer is foremost”.

Praying is critical to success in this life and beyond. According to the testimony of faith, prayers performed at the right time, in deference and humility, guarantee God’s forgiveness and eternal paradise. Muslims believe that the first question on the day of judgment is prayer. If it is healthy, the rest of your actions are healthy. And if it’s bad, the rest of your actions will be bad. Praying five times a day keeps the believer in constant remembrance of God and keeps him away from all unjust acts and only leads him to acts that make him please God. Prayer truly finds inner peace and satisfaction. It is also a source of patience, courage, hope, trust, inner peace, stability, equality, unity and gratefulness for God.

Otherwise, he will be assembled with Pharaoh, Qarun Haman, and ‘Ubai Ibn Khalaf.” (Ahmad)

Salah’s goal is to get in touch with Allah Almighty; intensify our relationship with Him and thanking Him for His blessings. Just as the body has physical needs like food and water, the soul has spiritual needs and our spiritual need is to pray Salah.

Importance of praying in jama’ah

It is good to offer prayer in the congregation (Jama’ah) in the mosque rather than praying alone or at home. Regarding the importance of congregational prayer, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) reply that:

“A single prayer in congregation is better than forty years of prayer at home.” He ask “Is it one day of prayer?” He reply : “No, it is a single prayer.”

We have been informed that in terms of rewards and divine gifts, praying in a congregation (jama’ah) is twenty-seven times better.

Importance of Jummah Prayer

Muslims believe that Friday is a Holy day for worshipping Almighty Allah. In addition to the actual prayer which is shorter than the usual midday prayers, the Friday service includes a sermon that is usually given by male Muslim clerics in predominantly Muslim countries. In the West, however, they are also donated by a male community to secular members. Participation in Friday prayer, the Prophet says, corresponds to a full year of prayer and fasting alone.

It is mandatory for men to pray Jummah whereas for women it is optional.
